Residents may be aware that planning permission for the proposed Football Centre was refused by Durham County Council and this decision was appealed against by the developer. The appeal has now been examined by a planning inspector appointed by the Secretary of State and has been rejected. This means that, pending any further appeal, the football centre will not be built.
